PURPOSE

To usher in and sustain RIGHTEOUSNESS IN THE NATION AND MAKE IT GREAT according to the captioned dictum THROUGH UNITED PRAYER.


I. Prayer is GOD’S COMMANDMENT to us 

“Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence” (1 Timothy 2:1,2)

Yes! It is enjoined upon every believer to PRAY FOR ALL IN AUTHORITY.


II. Prayer is GOD’S EMPOWERMENT to the Church to usher in “A Righteous” Nation

"Assuredly, I (THE LORD) say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven” (Matthew 18:18)

God has bestowed His authority to HIS CHURCH to bind or loose any issue that may affect “the Righteousness” of the nation as and when it arises. It is now upto the Church to exercise this authority!


III. Prayer is THE REALITY of God’s Promises

"If you ask anything in My name, I (THE LORD) will do it”. (John 14:14)

“Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full”. (John 16:24)

Here is an astounding programme for God’s eagerness to fulfil His own promises. Just in the beginning of 2004, when the dates for the General Elections for the 14th Parliament were announced, a godly fear gripped the hearts of a few saints of God in the country that the Nation should not be pushed to “perilous times’ as predicted in 2 Timothy 3:1 as an outcome of the election. Hence divinely led by the Spirit of God, a 72 hours nonstop intercessory corporate prayer coupled with fasting was arranged by the Heads of all churches in Chennai from 14th to 17th April 2004 under the patronage of the Chennai Catholic Arch-Diocese. This triggered the formation of similar Prayer Groups at the very same time, in all the major cities of India. There is, therefore, every reason to believe that the 14th Parliament and the present Government at the centre have come into existence, according to HIS DIVINE WILL in fulfillment of the foregoing promises of God.

Just this one incident should be enough to encourage all to be convinced of the reality of God’s promises.


IV. Prayer is THE PROTECTION for a “Righteous” Nation

ONLY God’s presence can protect any nation and prayer alone can bring it from Heaven.

“For I,' says THE LORD, 'will be a wall of fire all around her (Nation)”, (Zechariah 2:5)

God has now graciously given India a Secular Central Government. So it is imperative that prayers are sent Heavenward, night and day, unceasingly to remind THE LORD to protect it, in fulfilment of this promise.


V. Prayer is THE BOND OF UNITY

In the sight of God, all who believe in the supreme sacrifice of the Lord on the cross, for the entire humanity “are ONE BREAD AND ONE BODY” (I Corinthians 10:17). It is His great desire, therefore, that we “MAY BE ONE” (John 17:21) IN HIM so that “WE CAN BEAR ONE ANOTHER’S BURDENS” (Galatians 6:2) and “PRAY FOR ONE ANOTHER” (James 5:16).

The National Prayer Alliance shall help to accomplish this desire of God so that this ONE BODY could always be in RED ALERT to cry to God for any emergency in the Nation as well as the Church, to move the hand of GOD to retain “Righteousness” in the Nation at any cost and keep the Nation exalted at all times!

PRAYER MOVES THE HAND! THAT MOVES THE WORLD!
